Registration is open to all canine teams conducting archaeological human remains detection dog surveys for descendent communities, archaeologists, and other contracting agencies.

Handlers must have a minimum of 3 years of experience and a letter of support from an archaeologist.

Canines must be a minimum of 3 years of age. Training records showing where they have worked marked and unmarked graves should be shown. Additionally, unmarked graves should be confirmed through GPR.

Handlers must pass a written knowledge test that includes:
NAGPRA
Antiquities Act of 1906
National Historic Preservation Act 1966
Basic knowledge of operating on an archaeological site.

Handler and Canine must then pass a practical skills test consisting of:
Odor Recognition
Small Independent Survey
Complete a written report containing the elements of an introduction, map, narrative, table of results, recommendations, and citations.
